Humane Society of the United States Coats For Cubs ~ Donate a Fur Program Ongoing!
Rev. Paula recently donated her furs to the Humane Society in their "Coats For Cubs" program.
We are sure many of you already know about this wonderful program ~ a program takes donated furs and uses them to help injured, abandoned, or nurturing wildlife animals while recuperating, in foster care or waiting for new homes ~ to line their living areas to make them more comfortable and more secure with familiar furs.
As Rev. Paula writes:
"This, to me, is another way for me to be prosperous! How? By saying, yes I enjoyed wearing this beautiful coat ~ thinking it was farm-raised (something I'll never know for sure) ~ but now, I'm a different person, and by donating my fur I am helping create harmony and healing for any animal that may need it. And, that to me, is one of my definitions of being prosperous. No shame in the past ~ just love for the future for our beloved partners in the animal kingdom!"

Maricopa County Animal Shelters
At a recent event in Arizona, Rev. Paula was fortunate enough to meet and chat with the Sheriff of Maricopa County, Joe Arpaio. Sheriff Joe is a lifelong animal advocate, seeking to enhance the lives of all animals to ones of happiness, well-being and love.
Our net tuition from the AMI goes toward assisting the Maricopa County Animal Shelters, and the Hermitage Cat Shelter, and the care that both provide for abandoned and unwanted animals. (Please note the MCAC&C and the Hermitage have not endorsed our programs ~ it is our choice to donate to them.)
Please visit and adopt your next pet from ~ http://www.maricopa.gov/PETS/ or the Hermitage Cat Shelter

| Jungle Friends ~ Las Vegas, September 2009 ~ Rev. Paula presents Kari Bagnall with "Lifetime Achievement" Award |
|
"Jungle Friends" Kari Bagnall ~ Founder
In September 2009, Jungle Friends, a non-profit sanctuary for abused, abandoned, and ex-laboratory monkeys held a fundraiser in Las Vegas. Along with a wonderful vegan dinner, there were Silent and Live Auctions, all proceeds of which go to benefit the 100+ monkeys in the care of the Sanctuary of Jungle Friends.
Jungle Friends was begun around 17 years ago, by Kari Bagnall, whose ex-boyfriend tired of his "pet" monkey and left the animal with her. Not knowing how to care for this little creature, Kari set out on a journey of discovery ~ and eventually learned of the cruel buying and selling of "pet" monkeys on line, as well as the monkey trade across the planet, and of course the atrocities inflicted upon monkeys in laboratories for 30-40 years of their lives.
She founded Jungle Friends upon the principle that no monkey, or animal should be used for experiments, abused, abandoned or eaten. she maintains that creed by living a vegan life, and caring for all those monkeys that come her way.
Rev. Paula applauds her work, and at this event, presented Kari and Jungle Friends with a "Lifetime Achievement" Award from the NIC ~ praising her loving and groundbreaking work in the area of monkey sanctuary.

| Gene Baur ~ Founder of Farm Sanctuary and Rev. Paula |
|
"Farm Sanctuary" Gene Baur
Rev. Paula recently attended "ThanksLiving 2009" an alternative dinner on Thanksgiving day hosted by Kari Nienstedt, State Director for The Humane Society of the United States, at Green Restaurant in Scottsdale. The guest speaker was author and founder of one of the first farm animal sanctuaries, Farm Sanctuary ~ Gene Baur.
"It was wonderful meeting Mr. Baur, and his talk was enlightening, funny and very well organized."
Baur spoke of his life before knowing the details of factory farming, and how, once informed, he set about to make a difference. Baur is humble, admitting his own lack of understanding just how deeply animals feel in the beginning of his quest, and yet, he was also very confident in his ability to accomplish his goals of a sanctuary, as well as now informing others of just what is possible in our world.
Although a vegetarian, Baur does not propose that anyone else should become one. Rather, his presentation was about the care and respect we need to have toward animals that are bred for human consumption. He simply states that animals do not need to suffer just to provide sustenance for us. And he is right.
"His book is full of funny stories, and wonderful pieces about animals he has known and rescued. I recommend it, and know you will be happy you read it."
